COUPLES
THERAPY
Human relations are complex. Love adds magic and tragedy. The work that it takes to share a life together is tremendous. When things get stuck, therapy can be invaluable. With a scientific approach to couples therapy, we can map how the system is running to bring awareness of each others behavior. From there, you will learn skills and use tools to develop new patterns of interaction to restore communication and connection.
-
I make use of the Gottman Method for couples therapy, which focuses on building a meaningful relationship and enhancing communication effectiveness. This therapy is grounded in scientific research dating back to the 1970s and continues to evolve today. The therapy begins with a comprehensive assessment involving interviews and an online relationship checkup. For some couples, the insights gained through this assessment process, consisting of four sessions alone, prove sufficient for initiating the necessary changes. For others, the therapy progresses with a range of interventions. Typically, four to eight sessions are adequate to restore the connection or to consciously decide to end the relationship.
-
The assessment consists of three components. It begins with intake interviews conducted together, followed by individual interviews. Finally, you will complete the online relationship checkup.
Upon request, the assessment can be completed over the course of a single weekend.
-
One aspect of the assessment is the relationship checkup, which involves a comprehensive online assessment with over 400 questions that can be completed on your computer, tablet, or smartphone. Once both partners have finished the checkup, you will receive a detailed written report.
If you prefer, you can choose to solely undergo the checkup and opt for a detailed feedback session, which is available at a cost of $150. To get started, go here.

Typically, the therapy begins with an assessment, followed by a series of weekly intervention sessions. The assessment process requires approximately 4 to 4 1/2 hours, divided into four online or in-office sessions. The assessment fee is $425.
The components of the assessment include:
Session 1: Intake Interview (together) - 60 minutes - $50
Session 2: Individual Interviews - 60 minutes each - $75 per session
Online Relationship Check-Up Assessment - $150
Session 3: Treatment Planning - 60 minutes - $75
For the weekly couple's sessions, the fee is $75 per 60-minute session. The duration of the therapy will be determined based on your specific needs and goals.
By request, the assessment can be completed over the course of a single weekend.

I am a (43 year old) student Psychology at the Open University and have successfully completed Level 1 training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, and I incorporate it into my therapeutic approach. While Gottman Method Couples Therapy is a significant component of my work, it is important to note that I also utilize other forms of therapy based on individual circumstances and needs.
